Islamic Media by Dr P Quereshi

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the World.  To this fact the media has again managed to attach a negative stigma. Perhaps the most persistent negative stereotype of Islam is that it is a faith of violent extremists, represented by a masked militant rather than the doctor or computer software designer living next door. In media Islam is presented as being a backward and barbaric religion seen as oppressive and unjust; and more then this it is seen as being most oppressive to women.
The media has a great power, and how it chooses to exercise this power directly affects people. It is a propaganda machine of the highest order and Islam through its media appeals to many different people from many different walks of life and is able to provide satisfactory answers to every question posed by the individual, and thus provides them with total peace of mind; something which many Muslims would argue no other religion can provide.
